Dr Janet Fairweather

Janet Fairweather, a graduate of London University and McMaster University and a former Research Fellow of Girton College, Cambridge, has worked freelance since 1977, beginning as a supervisor of Cambridge undergraduates, later concentrating chiefly on research and translation. She is the author of Seneca the Elder (Cambridge 1981) and articles on classical rhetoric, biography and poetry, also a series of programme notes for the Welsh National Opera on the classical background to opera libretti.

She was responsible for the version of Cur Deus Homo in Anselm, The Major Works (Oxford World’s Classics , 1998) and in 2005 published the first ever translation of the Liber Eliensis.
